Above VMAF 95 less than 10% of humans can make any differentiations of the source and lossy encode at all and that's with like a 95% confidence. That's good enough for me.

It's only the grain chasers VMAF will never satiate but they themselves know that without 100 Mbps you can't preserve grain perfectly so most aren't even going to bother with lossy encodes anyway.

If you really cared about quality you would break into hollywood and steal the original film reels and then blow your brains out when you noticed how much they rotted over the decades.
