It has an extremely strong correlation. NYC has a relatively low murder rate by US standards because it specifically tries to prevent blacks from getting guns. Boston, too. Meanwhile, cities like St. Louis make no effort at all, and we see what happens.
It should be obvious why this is the case, since blacks have less impulse control than other groups. Giving them guns is a guarantee that they will use those guns in rash and irresponsible ways. That's just how it is.
