This is partially correct and partially wrong. Working line shepherds have a ton of energy and work drive and need that used up constantly, both mental and physical effort, and you need to have a clear delineation between work and normal life to adequately train them while avoiding potential conflicts in how they react. You also need to have a very good understanding and strong control of your animals at all times. You can walk them without a leash and have them ignore shit like rabbits running past, unless they think they can get away with acting out.
They're fantastic pets but much more high maintenance and more difficult to handle, which also results in a stupidly loyal and obedient dog if done correctly.
