I really can't be bothered to write anything longer right now but here's the short version.
>EQ software
EqualizerAPO + Peace for Windows
EasyEffects for Linux
>I want already made EQ presets
Oratory1990 for made and tested presets tuning to harman for a bunch of headphones. Amir on ASR also adds an EQ preset to the headphones he reviews. These are not harman, just general improvements, lighter on the amount of filters.
>I want a preset I can tweak
AutoEQ. Uses headphone measurements to create a harman preset, can use your own measurements if you have them. Can also change the preset to an extent and can visually see how the graph looks like. Can be imperfect since it's automated.
>How do I make my own presets
https://squig.link/ or https://crinacle.com/graphs/ for graphs(and only graphs, crinacle's tier lists are terrible) and tune accordingly.
>how do I EQ
You set the frequency, the gain, Q factor, filter type and preamp gain.
>frequency
Self explanatory.
>gain
How many dB you want to increase or decrease a particular frequency
>Q factor
Width of the filter. If you don't know what you're doing don't set it to something crazy like 8, use lower values.
>filter type
Bell/peak affects a singular point. High shelf and low shelf affect everything beyond or below a particular frequency. High pass and low pass prevent any frequencies beyond or below the frequency you set.
>preamp gain
Usually used to prevent clipping of the amp. Set it to AT LEAST the negative of the maximum boost you add to the preset. For example if you boost the bass by 6dB then the preamp gain should be -6 dB at least.
Maybe I'll write something longer later if I feel like it.

It's usually caused by crossfeed or particular frequencies being boosted. That's why the more a headphone leaks sound the larger the perceived soundstage. Also affected by pad size for example. So basically it's all in le head of yours.

You sure it's defective? Some FiiO amps have sleep mode
