WSJ absolutely want long term anime like the big 3 or Dragon Ball. The authors are the ones who don't want to continue the series on forever. WSJ editors frequently fight the authors over when the story ends because Jump wants something that is a perennial issue seller that can also earn them gorillions in merch sales.
