It's just the state of this industry to milk a series for all its worth and then axe it when the populairty dips too much. Mangaka get given a grace period to wrap the manga up, but there's only so much that can be done in a few chapters. Imagine how pissed people would be if Berserk only had three more chapters to wrap up. Could it be done? Yeah. Would it satisfy people who stuck with this manga for years, possibly decades? Hell no.

Pretty much, at least when it comes to shonen because it's so damn competitive to get your manga into the limited number of pages of the weekly anthology. Nowadays mangaka get a lot more leeway because of the rise of online media distribution platforms. Shonen with waning popularity get moved around once or twice before the axe, it's not an immediate axing anymore. Kimetsu no Yaiba ending at the request of the author was kinda an anomaly, no doubt Wani got tons of offers and pleading from their editor to keep going.

I find some of the funny scenes geuinely funny and momo and okarun's cute scenes remind me of me and a girl I liked in university. Like Momo waiting at the gate of the school for him and stuff like that. The fight parts are pretty meh compared to fights in other anime/manga but I like how they color code every fight. Fights definitely aren't the strong suit of this series, which is why I think the first few episodes of season 2 were a bit of a let down. A long fight like that doesn't fit what we saw in season 1 with fights being an episode or two at most and there being scenes of the characters in school/at momo's house etc. in between. It was a nice balance.

It's not about technology, it's about how much of the world the reader wants to explore. It's like how everyone who watched Naruto back in the day was hyped when they left for the Land of the Waves. It truly felt as if you were as excited as the characters leaving the gates of Konoha. Not to mention the wondering about the previous Kage, the Kages of the other nations, how these villages were etc.
Once again, this is not necessary for a manga/anime to be good, Hell I mostly read Seinen that are indeed set in real world Japan. It's just a thing that's been missing from a lot of the latest Shounen that I've noticed.
