Deku being forced to play smart and tactically to work around his own power had to potential to make it a fun read with either genuine creative ways to use the power system or wacky asspulls like Jojo
I didnt even mind that much about stuff like Full Cowl because he couldnt hit nearly as hard with it
But it was his personality, his behavior in the story had such complete lack of self respect that i knew there and there he would never be a great protagonist, its reflected in how Hori treats him and how the audience mocked the ending so much
Deku did not earn the audience's respect
Hell, early story Deku is a much better character than the one in the ending, who instead of trying to be a hero without powers he just withdraws himself and becomes a teacher, and gets a iron man suit gifted to him
Its a failure of a protagonist
