What is the point in a setting where traveling for 10 years versus 1 day is meaningless to everyone there? The thing to understand about game design is the game is designed for the player. Not the character. You're the one that has to have it impressed on them these things count. So, yeah, count your stupid resources. Even that 1 pound of rope you have just in case. Cause every point of weight matters. Don't like it? Why did you use strength as a dump stat? You're a caster? And? Put the stuff on someone with strength then. Or HIRE SOMEONE TO DO IT. That's what that is for.
People complain their system is terrible when it turns out they don't even use the rules.
