I don't know how intential it was but the fact that this game is so gameplay focused with long stretches of the player having to lock in and face high difficulty adversity pairs so well with the downtime you feel when you come back to your base and develop Yi's relationship with Shuanshuan and company. The music has all these eastern isntruments that are commonly associated with meditative music and contemplation. It's so easy to grow attached to the characters because you spend relaxing time with them after long stretches of high tension fighting. And by the end when you have spend so much time with these characters and found out so much about the lore and ramifications this plot has.. Man when you overcome that final challenge and watch the last cutscenes as they lead into the credits with the music. It's like a true walking into the sunset moment.
