Im one of those freaks that just love M&L gameplay and I really don't care if DT and BRS are as long as they are, because it means I can enjoy them longer until the next one. I will say, a more condensed experience and more bosses would benefit the next title. Make sure to make the characters a bit more interesting too, outside of the characters with actual designs like Connie, Extension corps, Zokket, GC, the concordians fucking suck.
Work on the scenarios too, like the fire and ice chiefs not being important to the story is just lame, they look like the designs were thought of in seconds and could have severed as boss fights for sea 3, where maybe they are brothers that actually want the islands to remain separated because of hot and cold racism and the bros have to calm them down by beating them, stopping their war or something of the sorts. M&L needs to borrow from PM story scenarios. I think lottacoins is one of the best parts of the game given it's structure of Interesting scenario>Town>Dungeon>Boss

As for Paper Mario, combine the level/world design and battle spectacle of Origami King with the battle systems of 64/TTYD. People never mention how awesome the boss battle camera is in Origami King

This shit just feels satisfying to block. When I played TTYD HD and got to hooktail, that awesome camera angle before the battle just kinda gets ruined with how lame the battles are presented in the game. Like imagine in the TTYD remake or a new game that battles were presented like pic related.
