I do like some of the work they put into 8, don't get me wrong. But as a whole I find myself not playing for long sessions because everything is so fucking "boisterous" and like someone else said "Metal Cafe". It could just be an anime thing. like, my anime friend always shows me 4 or 5 new anime when I visit him, and I've noticed all the latest stuff has extremely loud and sort of "early 2000s" vibes, where it's trying really hard to be edgy and aggressive sounding. Even the main theme in Mario Kart World kind of sucks and it actively annoys me.
But I think it's Nintendo's image in general that's starting to have this more "corporate" feel. In the recent Nintendo Partner direct, the opening also has such a

Like, where is that charmingly detuned whistling that they used to have in all their music? Where's that sort of doe-eyed, knowingly childish attitude that still spoke to all ages? I don't wanna see a fucking "Corporate Marketing Division" version of Nintendo.
