People had grown tired of Rick and Morty long before Justin Roiland's ousting. Anyone who paid attention to the after-episode snippets could see Roiland appearing less and less often. The guy wouldn't even show up for con panels, so it's not hard to believe he stopped being as involved after Season 3.

The episodes we're getting now aren't all that different from when Roiland was still around anyway. It's still as droning and lame as it's been for years now.
