Like there was no need for that OTT stuff. AD was relatively 'grounded' it didn't have Family Guy tier randomness like that in it before TBS. Additionally they would do episodes for no reason, like the end of the world episode and it's just left... Only for a later season episode to go

People had grown tired of Rick and Morty long before Justin Roiland's ousting. Anyone who paid attention to the after-episode snippets could see Roiland appearing less and less often. The guy wouldn't even show up for con panels, so it's not hard to believe he stopped being as involved after Season 3.

The episodes we're getting now aren't all that different from when Roiland was still around anyway. It's still as droning and lame as it's been for years now.

the reason why AD has an overall longer sustainability compared to other similar shows is that it's been completely unhinged from nearly the very beginning. they dropped the bush/conservative mockery very early and the fact that it doesn't rely on cut-aways, topical shit, and literally anything goes (from sci-fi to fantasy) means that they can go completely bonkers with anything on any episode. its main issue is that most episodes at this point have a pretty formulaic plot-template, but that's about it
