Idk, in terms of design there's nothing wrong with the approach: it's strong and consisten branding, it's compatible with various degrees of elaborate (or not) illustration, it doesn't oversell the visuals as a reminder of pre industry crash pitfalls, and ultimately it's aimed at people who will either already know what they're going to buy or if they don't they will look to the screens in the other side more than to the "cover". Plus, you get a nice sturdy plastic box out of the deal.
