Nah, they feel great once you get the timing down. The problem is that there's no clear way to learn timings for all the different enemies, like you don't know exactly how long your parry or dodge frames are and enemy animations are of course all different as well, it doesn't show you anything so you have no idea exactly when the hit connects or when your "perfect" window is. You just need to try over and over until you get it. If you play the game on normal difficulty or whatever it was called, it's generally easy and lenient enough that you can still get hit a bunch and progress without much issue.
