If you have a superiority product for a good price then the people will import it no matter what.
Brazil for example has extremely high tariffs on everything to make hurr durr Brazil industry stronger but at the end Brazil produces nothing the people want and native consumers in Brazil are just hurt by it.
Tariffs make sense so far that native wages and production costs are compensated to cheaper nations but with modern globalism where parts for 1 single airplane come from around the world it doesn't really makes sense.
