Thanks. Probably can work for actual named characters, but yeah, it's common. The groggy character looking into the mirror reminds me of 90s/early 2000s movies.

Part of the fun of a self-insert story is filling in the blanks yourself. Build up the world in your head. Maybe (you) are the kind of guy who'd curl up into a ball and sob. Maybe (you) are the kind of guy who'd pump their fist and be overjoyed. Maybe (you) are the kind of guy who'd immediately do something inappropriate and unmentionable. I don't know. But they all fit.
