It's not faith in AI. I'm very familiar with its falibility. I am also familiar with managers in my place of employment beleivng the hype. I often have to explain the limitations so they don't do something as stupid as let people go because they think AI will solve everything.
So no, it's not a misplaced faith in AI. It's my understanding of causality. AI will cause unemployment, but not because it is a suitable replacement, rather, it is a perceived suitable replacement. As a consequence, I am less replaceable than the people that cannot explain its limitations.
