He's that artist that can only do simpering aspiration or smug gloating. Back when he was depressed, lonely and creepy he actually had to try, but can't escape the needy 'woe is me, the lonely loser creep narrative'. Now that he's complacent, content and married his work has no edge, little ambition, riding nostalgia with the depth of a spoon.
I try not to wish bad things on artist making art, but I do think that a divorce would shake up his storytelling.
I honestly overthink his work, though. He could retire and I'd be fine with it.
