Did Zuckerberg see the Lawnmower Man as a kid and dream up some fantasy about turning VR into a business facing venture?
Why did a guy with no prior interest in actual video games buy the Oculus and do the dumbest shit in the world with it? It didn't have to go that way, it really didn't. It feels so strange that every time we have to explain why VR isn't a mainstream thing we have to mention a blank-eyed billionaire that owns a social media website.
$30b down the tubes on Meta. Insane. Zuck could have built a taller version of the Burj Khalifa, torn it down, then built it again and repeated the process 10 times with that kind of cash. All he has to show for it is a fucking absurd Mii version of himself with no legs hovering around in a worse clone of VR chat. So bizarre and kind of sad.
