Not all games are metroid like, and even if there are other games that are better it doesn't mean that Shantae games are all bad.
Like I said, they are fun, even if they are not on the same level as Symphony of the Night or Super Metroid it doesn't mean that they are instantly not worth playing.
I play all kinds of games, and for me Shantae games are a nice fun game to play, I like the characters, the diologue, the powers and the setting.
I don't want to just play super serious games all the time. Some times I just want a simple fun adventure, and this series covers that really well for me.
