Too bad alcohol is such a lame drug and weed is very illegal and hard to get here. Good weed. Actual good weed. I haven't seen that shit in 5 years at least. Totally different world here now. I baked some garlic herb chibatta this morning and just made myself a spicy italian sandwich with pepperoni, mortadella, provolone, onions, olives, tomato, mayo, and a balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and herd dressing. I cracked a bottle of 2022 Saracossa Tosana to sip while I eat.

I have seen it. I’m in New Jersey and we have a ton of taphouse pubs here. Unfortunately the hard seltzer thing is the craze now but in the 2010s it was like craft beer paradise. We still have a ton of local breweries. You can probably do a whole week touring breweries and wineries in NJ to be honest.

This is my town's surviving Brewery. Like I said they basically absorbed the other two breweries so the selection changes based on the month, so the stuff they ship out to sell is limited to about 10 types and a selection of seasonal beers. The plus side is they are constantly prototyping new beers so if you actually go to the brewery itself they will have anywhere from 50-100 microbrews on tap to taste. If you really like one of the beers they are prototyping you can put in an order and have a keg custom brewed just for you.

Also the food is incredibly good. The owner loves fishing and brings rock fish in almost every day so you are guaranteed fresh fish if you order.

Reminder that making your own alcohol is actually really cheap to do if you're fine with basic fruit hooch.

A large plastic bottle
Fruit tea bags
Sugar
Brewing yeast
A balloon

>What do
1) Brew the tea bags to get every last drop of flavour out
2) Dissolve the sugar in hot water. I'm talking a LOT of sugar, around 1kg per 4L of water
3) Combine the two then wait for them to cool down before pouring them into the bottle
4) Add yeast (high temperatures can fuck the yeast up)
5) Stretch the balloon over the top (it'll act as a filter to keep air out)

After 2-3 weeks (weather dependent) you'll have some basic bitch fruit flavoured hooch at about 6-7% ABV. Decant into another bottle to get it away from dead yeast, give it a week or so to settle and clear, and enjoy over ice.

The long walk today was nice as it took me behind the mill / steel plant they worked at in the town I grew up in, had been with each of my grandfather's on that area until they put up a fence.
