It really does feel like the emphasis on flashy disciplines, and all these advanced movement choices were focused more on the perception of what a 'vampire' is supposed to be, opposed to a creature of the night navigating their loss of humanity, and trying to maintain a guise of being human. I guess playing as an older vampire is to blame for that? Fyre already had that character arc and accept what they are, so they're is well beyond that point in their life; as such, the game focuses on a power fantasy instead. Playing as an elder was probably a mistake, and failure to move away from that design could be blamed.
Unfortunately, however, riding on the coattails of Bloodlines comes with expectations, and VTMB2 feels like a dumb action game with minimal decision making meant to appeal to stupid people who want to go "WHOAH I PUNCHED A GUY A LOT, REALLY FAST, JUST LIKE IN THE JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURES LOL *toggles detective vision to get a path to my next objective, mashes through dialogue*"
