right now i'm listening to the carol symphony by victor-hely hutchinson. it's very good. this is part of my recent infatuation with 20th century english composers such as william walton, malcolm arnold, sir arnold bax, and havergal brian to name a few. brian's gothic symphony is outstanding and reminds me of the grandiose structure of anton bruckner's symphonies which are also excellent. classical music reminds me of culture and history and makes me feel grounded, but i also see music as a formal system comparable to logic but dealt with channeling instances of various geists rather than generalized experimental method or anything like perceived regularity in nature... when i listen to brahms i think about austria-hungary. i think socialism is right and the only way for humanity to replace wage labor as a mode of production and free markets as a mode of distribution is by rationally solving social relations and in doing so reabsorbing or reallocating key responsibilities of the state, such that the state eventually dissolves and is replaced by a kind of human blockchain that's ultimately pragmatic. there is too much to say on this topic and it exhausts me and i'm not as young mentally as i used to be, still i am smarter but harder stirred to action, less free to myself to write. everything i've written i have written before, so it exhausts me, but i can always say more.
