You would be correct in case of a genocidal war
>a foreign government sending troops to a far away place to kill everyone until they submit
but that’s not how it plays out in reality.
In reality the people commanding the troops lives in the same jurisdiction as the people they’re trying to lord over and, in that case, they also have to sleep, their kids have to go to school, their wives have to go to work and people know where they live.
There was a very good example of that in Iraq back when ISIS started to rise. The Iraq army had Abraham tanks, F16 jets and all of the modern firepower but that didn’t do them any good as ISIS just roll over to their houses and places of work with AKs and gunned them down, taking some alive to make videos to send the message to the rest.
In about six months all of the people that would be the ones calling for drone strikes, jet bombings and whatnot were either dead (some in very spectacular and gruesome and full HD surround sound ways) and the rest either defected or fled.
There is no possible defense against a genocidal power but a local tyrannical government? An AK will do it if enough people have them and, as expertly put by Starship Troopers
>what good is a nuke if you don’t have a hand to push the button
As any yugo how far an AK goes when SHTF
