Because spending $10-$15 every couple of months to play a gimmicky game that's immediately novel and fun with friends that you can easily get 20 or more hours of content out of rather than buying modern $70+tip+tax AAAslop that requires you make it your second job powerleveling or grinding a battlepass to unlock any of the fun stuff on top of spending even more money on DLC to fix it because it was released unfinished is a LOT more appealing.
