The people you're describing are shitter artists who don't even have commissions or followers yet. Most of what you here are unironic Indian shills that are paid to spam it on this website, 4chan gets paid for it too that's why /v/ has a permanent AI art general.
All the established artists still have their business and it hasn't declined because slop is both low quality and limited.
Don't get me wrong, it's improving, but the rate its improving has slowed down dramatically and until we reach another big breakthrough artists aren't going anywhere.

There are patreons for people who make AI slop but that's because they fill a market for something that other artists aren't filling. Genderbender art for example was an untapped market that artists barely touch and some people decided to make a patreon and dedicate it to Genderbending slop to great success.
