Favelas are exclusively used to refer to Brazilian ghettos and Brazilian slums, it itself being a Brazilian term and having origins from a Rio de Janeiro hill, Morro da Favela. The hill is named after the favela plant, which was abundant in the region where its settlers had fought. The word "favela" itself is a diminutive of the Portuguese "fava", as in "fava bean," derived from the Latin "faba". So why the fuck are you using it to describe Spanish speaking people, when Spanish speaking people don't use favela to describe ghetto and slum areas from their countries. That being a (Brazilian) Portuguese term. Are you brain damaged?
