Western Civ has been a thing long before the 1900s and Communism. I'm not sure what "the West" was originally the west of, I think it started with Greece and Persia being the nefarious "East." Or maybe it's west of Jerusalem.

There's a reason the Russian Empire considered itself a third Rome and called its monarchs Caesar, and it's not because they had nothing to do with the "Western" cultural package and historical lineage. Genetically too, Russians are, though savage, unambiguously white people from the same 3 tribes founding populations, making your average Ruskie have more in common blood lineage wise with someone in France or Spain than a Kazakh right next door. Hell the Indo-Europeans come from modern Russia.
