That's a fair assessment anon, I definitely see Adventure as born from the 90s Sonic aesthetics and Heroes Sonic as closer to what we currently know as "Modern Sonic". I would even agree the nuClassic misinterprets early 90s Sonic's tone and aesthetics in its attempt to recapture it. But, it's wrong to say the Adventure games weren't trying to differentiate themselves from early 90s Sonic to create something new.

Adventurenic is something unique, born from a desire to push the franchise into a new millennia on new hardware to give it a new start after a long hiatus. But it's also not early 90s Sonic, and I think the team that worked on those games would agree.
