Depends on the round, but they can. What the other fella is talking about here is from the offset on a scope. Scope is above barrel so you have to sight it in where they essentially converge at a known range. Think of it like an " x". If they have it sighted in at very close range the scope will be angled down quite a bit in relation to the barrel, meaning the barrel is angled up creating a parabolic flight path. This diagram sums it up well.
