VII is the face of the franchise, always has been. Remake and Rebirth are guaranteed to keep selling, Remake's a perfect example, came out in 2020 and it's still selling, over 7 million sold by 2023.
Rebirth got great reviews, tons of awards, strong word of mouth, and the fanbase actually likes it. It has legs.

Meanwhile XVI is widely considered one of the bottom three, along with XIII and XV, heck, I’m pretty sure most people put XVI at the very bottom. It's dead on arrival. No legs, no buzz, nobody cares. It flopped on PS5, flopped on PC, and it flopped on Xbox too. Hell, if it ever ends up on Switch 2, it'll bomb there just the same.
