I mean, yeah. If you put it that way, it's more entertaining. But I've always found British history to be rather fascinating on its own. Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Celts, Romans, etc. Very fascinating. Game of thrones was based, in part on British History.

Fair enough. But one thing you might be overlooking here is that, part of reason they go out and drink, is that it's literally part of their job. It's a social-networking opportunity. The kind of high paying/high status people you mentioned are always on the job, even when it looks like recreation. In the day, they're golfing but making new connections for more business opportunities. In the night, they're out drinking but looking to connect to new people for more opportunities to make money.
