we can't get good space games anymore because the split second you present something with imagination and wonder you get Reddit Sciencebrains giving you the good old 'acshully' and screeching to high heaven that you had a green alien woman or a spaceship that's anything beyond a soul-crushingly hideous committee-approved ''''NASApunk'''' design.

It's a completely dead genre these days but I'm wondering what are the best space games where you actually command capital ships or large vessels? There's quite a lot of old space fighter type games but I can't think of any where you can control actually large ships except Homeworld.
