You guys don't even know about the specifics of Jump Points in the MechWarrior universe. Jump Ships can only make jumps from areas with minimal gravity. Usually that means they jump into the top or bottom of a star system, then have shuttles fly a multiday journey towards the planets.

But sometimes, there's Lagrange points inside a solar system that let the jump ships come right in, assuming the pilot is skilled enough. These are called pirate points.
