None of M!Robin's pairings have as much as going on right out the box as F!Robin/Chrom does. You have the mixing of Exalted and Fell blood, instead of just being killed by his best friend Chrom gets killed by his fucking wife, the reveal that Grima is Robin is more or less a "Luke, I am your father" moment for Lucina, Ylisse having a Plegian queen despite having two bloody wars with Plegia in recent memory. You get some of that with M!Robin/Lucina but then you're still missing out on all the drama from the doomed timeline. I've also just never liked Robin marrying a gen 2 character since it implies that og timeline Robin never got married, which is sad to me. It's not to say that you couldn't make other pairings interesting but it's perfectly understandable why IS and fans would be into F!Robin/Chrom.
