Women are the biggest consumers but only in that they buy:
>clothes, shoes, and accessories
>makeup, stickers, jewelry
>daily coffee and wine
>all sorts of pet stuff
>knicknacks and kitschy decorations (TJ Maxx and Marshalls are like women's Mecca)

And they buy all this stuff frequently and repeatedly, most of which will not be sold off but thrown away or donated. All of which is very expensive. Women will also go into debt just to buy the latest fashion trends.

The reason companies after 2011 started trying to draw normie women into buying geek IP was because they wanted female normie consumers to purchase geek IP due to how much money it was making. If Tommy likes Star Wars/Marvel and spends a lot on the IP, they could get even MORE money if they got his mom and sister to like the IP.
The problem is that normie women don't really like men's geeky IP because it usually doesn't primarily revolve around what normie women usually prefer to see (romance, drama, thriller, horror). Normie women only like men's IP when it is about genres that both demographics love (horror, thriller, action-adventure, etc).

The logical thing would be to make the MCU and SW revolve more around straight romance/drama, maybe make it a bit more scary. All they needed to do was that and it would have worked, but they DIDN'T DO THAT. Instead, they assumed women would show up in droves if they just introduced more female heroes who might as well be annoying or emotionally hollow men with boobs slapped on. And on top of that, they began carrying an anti-male sentiment while emasculating/feminizing the men, removing sex appeal for men, and just not being fun.
