When the Oracle says to Neo in The Matrix Reloaded "You didn't come here to make the choice, you've already made it. You're here to try to understand why you made it.", those words had a profound impact on my entire life. Reloaded and Revolutions are underrated. The first three Matrix films are each masterpieces in their own ways and changed the way I think of free will and 'reality'. Resurrections is garbage, though. The first three Matrix films were unironically dropping profound red pills about the nature of free will.
Time is illusory, just like space, solidity and everything else besides Pure Consciousness. What people call 'movement' is an illusion. Nothing ever truly moves, every moment is like a frame in a television show. When you watch a television show, it looks like you're seeing moving images, but the images you are seeing are not moving at all. You are seeing one frozen image after another in rapid succession, so it looks as though you are seeing moving images (even though you're not). Time is like that. Every moment in our lives is like a frozen image, an eternity of its own. Another way of looking at this is to think of your life as a movie on a DVD. Your attention is focused on a certain part of the movie (what we call 'the present'), but the entire movie is already on the disc. The parts of the movie you already saw are what we call 'the past' and the parts of the movie you haven't seen yet are what we call 'the future'. (end of part 1)
