They did learn how to laught it off, which is development, but not necessarily a good one.
Things could go many ways, including negative ones. Asa and Denji admiting themselves as horrible is effectivelly them enabling each other, which could reinforce their self-destructive tendencies.
But a positive development that could happen if they get to talk it out is for them to absolve/pardon each other by sharing their experiences. Asa would be very quick to point out all the good Denji has done in her life and encourage him to forgive himself.
I'm not sure if Denji would do the same but maybe this is the moment where Denji will think of Asa completely divorced of Yoru and actually notice all the times she saved his life.
tldr, Maybe this will be the payoff for all the times Denji and Asa saved each other and it'll give them strength to crawl out from their lowest point.
