Metroid: Other M and 06 both suffer from the exact same problem. They introduce characters and bonds and fail to establish emotional stakes within the narrative so nobody gives a shit if they die. "Remember me?" is "Trial of Friendship" level of writing. Adams's sacrifice in Other M is as equally retarded as Blaze's in 06. At least with Adam you have some foreknowledge that he's going to die because its a Fusion prequel; but they introduce his brother who's bond with Samus is external to the narrative soley so Samus can empathize with Adam to add emotional weight and learn the lesson properly this time.
