The crazy thing about it is that there are people who have a philosophy to only buy retail and never buy above. If you run the numbers, it's absurd, and the justifications you read are borderline insane. 'Yeah, I bought that jewellery for my wife, but I was going to buy jewellery anyway'. 'Yeah, I bought that Tudor Black Bay, it's cool', 'Yeah I got that OP because it's classic'...it's all the same. You ask them if they wear these watches at all now that they have what they want, they either say 'no', or 'I sold that years ago'. It's all the same, and I can't blame them.

If I had a Tudor Black Bay and then got allotted a Submariner, I'd never wear the Tudor again. Why would you? Tudor Prince vs. Rolex Day-Date? Same thing. The cope that you have to read about it is awful - sure, they won't pay above retail, but they'll spend 4x the price of the watch on other watches just for the chance to be allotted one...if they get one, they STILL have to spend more to get it. They got a Daytona at retail, but the total spent was 75k. It's amazing and absurd.
