10mm Auto can pretty closely match .41 Magnum in ballistics and all, but it's also harder to find in a lot of places. Plus, 10mm can also be used in semi-autos and carbines, whereas the only semi-automatic anything I know of for .41 Magnum is the very rare Desert Eagle variant, and I can't think of any carbines.
I'm actually rather confident that the advent of 10mm Auto is what historically killed the momentum of .41 Magnum or ".41 Police" in the market.

With .41 Magnum, you could get it in a large N-Frame or similarly sized revolver, which is kind of excess in build and size for the cartridge if you aren't going to go full Elmer Keith on it, in which case you would most likely have wanted .44 Magnum anyway.
With 10mm Auto, the Bren Ten fell on its face, but the Colt Delta Elite was honestly pretty decent for its time after they did the stress cut on the frame, and if you don't try to absolutely Elmer Keith the thing, and then you had other 10mm Pistols come from Glock and Smith & Wesson.

10mm Auto can easily match the .41 Police load, except now you get 9+1rds fast, in a regular old 1911 and fast reloads with flat magazines, and with the Glocks and Smith you get even more rounds with those ballistics. It's just a way more appealing package for the given ballistics.
Then, if you wanted to inject some vitamins into your 10mm Auto for wildlife defense, or just for fun, the cartridge can be loaded up for that (but again, maybe don't go too hard on the old Delta Elites that way).
