I didn't even enjoy the first game. It was frustrating. Combat in a metroidvania shouldnt be so risky and time-consuming. I don't want to WAIT for openings on every single mook like theyre mini-bosses in every corridor. It doesn't make any sense. Samus and Alucard have better range and better mobility and more health and their enemies are bugs and bats for a reason. The "search action" genre already has you doing enough shit. Bosses function as the combat focus and skillcheck, not the little hallway fodder guys.
also dropping your souls/money "because darksouls" fucking sucks.
But seeing game journalists and casuals complaining and starting up their "muh accessibility muh 'ableism' muh girls can play games just as good as boys can but also not having an easy mode is sexist" shit makes me laugh. Everybody should've seen this coming from a mile away, especially the devs.
