You haven't read much hardcore fantasy. Where narrative laws are at work, or old school ideas of universal laws are at play. God even The Last Unicorn (the book) would leave you confused and angry. The laws of physics depends on your setting.
Science is a process. Saying there's science when no one knows the scientific process in the setting, is retarded. Physics just happening is not science happening because science is the study.
A thing being magic requires nothing. It's a hollow word that means what we want, but usually we assume it refers to some kind of unknown force or power. "Ineffable" is rarely necessary or required. You learned that word by watching the BBC tv adaptation of a book you didn't read. You're not using it correctly.
Storytelling doesn't require causality. It just finds it useful.
