Now, while switching from 7.62x39mm to NATO 5.56x45mm IS a cause for some people to seethe, it really isn't that bad. Everything we have learned over the years (and being re-confirmed in Ukrainian war) is that for all intends and purposes, the both rounds are somewhat equivalent. They both get the job done. And the deciding factor of "hich one you should use" seems to be whichever is more available in cheap, large quantities.

Finns changing from 7.62mm to 5.56mm makes logical sense, if you remember that they are now part of NATO. So the whole nato standard being a thing... Yeah, it's a costly transition for Finns who, until now, have been on the outlook of "If the Russians attack, we can use their own ammo against them". But inside NATO, that SHOULDN'T become an issue, unless USA shits it's pants and abandonds it's NATO allies.
