The "J" in JRPG is meaningless if any RPG that's not even made in Japan can be called that just for being turn and party based when that particular style of RPG originated with Wizardry which was from America. People here will get so uppity about the definition of certain genres when a game is not ticking every single box in their mind but will have a pretty liberal interpretation of the JRPG, which historically also gives you much less freedom to actually roleplay compared to WRPGs.
