Romance needs to make a comeback. Couples truly yearning for one another and being equals just doesn’t seem to be a thing anymore. Bonus points if they have good chemistry and effective communication with each other, as well as important themes they embody individually and together.

Most of them have no fucking clue what they’re doing when it comes to that so they don’t bother. Hell, most romance mangakas have no fucking clue either since they’re either virgins or they have no clue how to write and pace romance. The difference between battle Shonen and (good) romance is extremely huge and the latter requires a lot of careful attention to character emotions and context in ways that you can’t asspull your way out off. There’s no shortcut in writing a good romance and mixing that along with a huge battle plot is even harder. So you’re better off doing one or another unless you have a lot of experience writing both.
