Tons of people quit/moved before I arrived at my team 3 years ago. From the original lineup of 6 engineers in 2020, only 1 remained by 2022. Since then, me and him are the only ones who persisted through more hirings and firings. Our direct manger changed 3 times until my OG teammate was promoted to a team lead so he manages me now. I'm still a regular engineer but in practice I am sort of an incompetent tech lead as well.
So yeah, powering through this shit can be worth it, especially in this dead market. Pic related is me from 3 years ago, how time flies.
