No the heck she doesn't. There is no "Sonic and Cream" dynamic that isn't just Sonic & Tails again. At best, Cream is just another Tails. Her actual role is Amy's sidekick, but if you remove that and just have her around Sonic himself, she will overwrite both Amy and Tails and become Girl #1 AND the cute kid sibling sidekick all at the same time, and both Amy and Tails will get overlooked and treated like trash because Cream will get all the love and attention.
