yeah pretty much. you're supposed to live in a hostel and go on pub crawls or go to clubs or even dating apps to meet people, or at least be somewhat extroverted and attractive. If you don't go out of your way you will indeed be alone, especially as you don't speak French.
Personally solo travelling isn't it for me - I've done enough of it traveling for business at a small company that doesn't put you into 5 star hotels, and I'd much rather be with friends or hot women
France has a lot of beautiful areas to see outside of Paris. I've been in southern France in places like Carcassone, Avignon, Nice and other parts of Provence. Someday I hope to visit Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, I don't care if it's seen as touristy or overhyped
