You, like other players, should have the self-restraint to actually treat it as such, correct?
The real problem with LR is that it tries to give you a whole backstory, when the Courier's appeal is being a blank slate for the player to fill in. That and there wasn't much buildup
But maybe part of that was why the Camp Searchlight encounter with Ulysses got cut from the base game. While I liked Avellone's writing in the other DLCs, he had likely written him this way from the very start and it just didn't fit.
Likewise, the overarching Ulysses plot in the other DLCs, "Things to Come!", could have had much more presence than it actually did (No clue what >>720364157 is talking about):
>Dead Money's is just schizobabble about two couriers fighting in a missable ending slide locked behind an 80-something speech check
>the actual connection to dead money is locked behind a very missable holotape in a cave in OWB
>Honest Hearts, Joshua Graham dialogue is an off-mention about expecting a different courier when he heard of your arrival
>the actual connection to honest hearts is hidden in one very missable holotape in LR
>later notes he heard one frumentarii was a courier after saying tons of them were sent to kill him and failed
>OWB is largely just a missable holotape but has some good dialogue about him being skilled enough to reach Big MT
>this dialogue and a single forgettable johnson nash basegame line are the only non-missable hints you will ever get towards this guy's actual character
Not to mention that this one line in Johnson Nash's dialogue is the only reference to him in the entire base game, and it's more vague and forgettable than everything about him in the DLCs.

You mean the first game? It never tried to be funny. The second game and everything that followed, it's a different story.

find a good build online and go play anon
they're cheap on gog or steam and you can easily pirate the gog versions if you don't like paying

iirc FO1 is more dependent on a meta/viable build and Fallout 2 you can branch out more. They're good games imo
